My name is Jill Montie
Impressed designs are a small part of our family business, Daydreams Studio, where “Your dream is our design”. I join my husband, Tom, to make homes uniquely expressive with paint and decorative ceramic art.

I was born and raised south of Detroit. Growing up, I was surrounded by artists, like my automotive designer dad who would give me informal drawing lessons at the kitchen table. I was often invited to painting classes my grandmother hosted with her girlfriends in Grosse Ile. My studies at College for Creative Studies and the historic Pewabic Pottery in Detroit, Henry Ford Community College and Grand Valley State University where I received my BFA in 1983, all developed my creative and teaching skills. Using these to enrich the lives of our kids and so many others, has given me great joy!

The Porcelain, Raku and Earthenware clays I work with are “impressed” with many different texturing tools I've collected or created over the years by etching into clay or plaster. They all have special memories, from my Retro Daisy stamp, to the Star Babies created by my daughter when she was young, to my Grandmother's antique doilies, and textures found in nature. All my impressions tell a story and I am so happy to share them with you!
